Review Business Health

One of the major challenges for any business owner is maintaining a clear and comprehensive understanding of the overall health of their business. Without the right software solution, this can involve digging through huge amounts of data across multiple spreadsheets and software platforms. Oftentimes, business owners are left without a clear picture of how they’re doing when it comes to sales, inventory, margins, and other important items. But with Dynamics 365 Business Central, it’s easy to review your business’ overall health.

From the Dynamics 365 Business Central dashboard, a business owner has access to a range of important data right out of the box. By scrolling down, you’ll see live charts and graphs featuring key business metrics. With embedded reporting from Power BI, you gain even deeper insight into your business’ data. If you click on Sales This Month under Activities, for example, you can quickly drill down into recent sales numbers and even edit them in Excel with the click of a button.

Identify Opportunities and Trends

In order to uncover valuable business opportunities, a business owner needs to be able to identify trends as they occur. With Dynamics 365 Business Central, it’s easier than ever to identify business trends.

In the top left corner of Dynamics 365 Business Central, click the waffle button and select Power BI. This allows you to quickly navigate from Business Central to Power BI, where you can analyze trends in data. By selecting the Customer Sales Dashboard, for example, you can quickly drill down into a specific customer’s purchase history.

It’s also easy to gain quick insights into financial trends from the main Power BI dashboard. By clicking the lightbulb icon on the Finance menu item, you can identify potential business trends with the help of Microsoft’s advanced set of forecasting algorithms. This level of insight is often unavailable to SMB owners -- but with the help of Dynamics 365 and Power BI, it’s readily accessible.

Another great feature is the ability to export these insights, making it easy to present them to key employees and partners. From within Power BI, it’s possible to quickly and easily export data into a PowerPoint presentation, Excel spreadsheet, and more.

Review Customer History

As a business owner, it’s essential to keep track of balances and identify which customers have unpaid invoices. With Business Central, all it takes is a few clicks to access this kind of data.

From Power BI, use the Apps waffle icon to switch back to Dynamics 365. Rather than first navigating to the Business Central dashboard and then to your Customers page, you can simply select Customers directly from the Dynamics 365 dashboard. From your customers list, click on a particular customer and select the Report menu, followed by the Statement menu item. This quickly generates a report showing you the customer’s payment history, allowing you to make informed business decisions relating to individual customers.

Manage the Business and Make Informed Decisions

Dynamics 365 Business Central simplifies the process of managing your business’ financials.

Need to check your accounts receivable? From the Business Central Dashboard, simply click on the Excel Reports option and select Aged Accounts Receivable. Looking for something even more specific? Business Central makes it easy to find what you need with its built-in search capability. For example, a business owner can search for “Customer Trial Balance” and be taken directly to the corresponding report.
