The Microsoft Wave One release (beginning April 2022 and ending September 2022) is bringing hundreds of new features to Dynamics 365 and other Microsoft tools. Recent and Upcoming Changes to Dynamics 365 Sales

Beginning April 2022, Microsoft users will enjoy streamlined communication and workflows with the Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Teams integration. The integration enables anyone to view and collaborate on Dynamics 365 records from directly within a Teams chat or channel. These chats and channels can even be linked to specific Dynamics 365 records for faster communication and collaboration.




For example, users working on an account lead opportunity case can see specific records with Dynamics 365 and tie them to a marketing or sales group within Teams. This provides the marketing team with valuable business data and alerts sales personnel to potential opportunities. With everything connected together, users can collaborate seamlessly, accelerate productivity, and enhance engagement.


Updates Coming to Microsoft Canvas Apps


Microsoft Canvas Apps are becoming increasingly more popular across industries. However, one of the biggest pain points among users is the inability to co-author an application. Currently, only one user can edit the app at a time which prevents other users from seeing changes or updates in real-time.


The Wave One release features Git version control which will allow more than one person to edit and update Canvas apps at the same time. As users are making changes, they’re automatically merged with other edits and immediately available to others editing the app. And with version control, users can easily restore the app to a previous version should it become too complex or require additional changes.




This feature is the first step towards creating a co-authoring experience within Canvas apps and will simplify a variety of processes across the enterprise.


Please note that Git version control does not currently have an option to resolve merge conflicts. Any conflicts have to be resolved in the repository. Microsoft has stated they are hoping to overcome this limitation in the near future.

New Features Coming to Dynamics 365 Marketing


Microsoft continues to invest in the Dynamics 365 Marketing platform and is planning to roll out additional features that will enhance the power of the tools, providing marketers with a robust and intelligent toolset.


Beginning in April 2022, marketing teams will see a major improvement in the platform. Users will be able to configure the Marketing platform with SMS providers like Twilio or TeleSign and have it perform specific actions at a specific point in the customer journey.


For example, if a customer wants to stop receiving text updates and sends a text message back that reads ‘no’ or ‘stop’, the platform will automatically unsubscribe them.


This integration provides marketing teams with valuable data on customer engagement and text message analytics that can be used to enhance marketing strategies.
