Recently, JourneyTEAM held its Q3 Tech Insider Update where we reviewed the latest capabilities added to the Microsoft technology platform. This includes updates made within Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Azure. Additionally, JourneyTEAM experts discussed how to best utilize new features within business processes, and how Microsoft supports organizations looking to perfect their technological posture.

A brief overview of the new features available within Power BI, Azure AD, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Yammer, and more can be found below.


Power Platform

Power BI

  • Improved Dataflow connector.

  • Better DirectQuery support for Dataflows.

  • New model view for datasets now GA.

  • New paginated reports visual.

  • Small multiples in reporting now GA.

Cloud, Office 365, and Azure AD

  • Tenant switching in O365 Admin Center.

Azure AD Updates

  • Additional log analytics event collection.

  • New Azure AD app proxy SSL certification check may affect traffic flow if existing certification has issues.

  • New Azure AD CA policy (Device Condition) enables users to select specific devices and access more powerful filters.

  • New view available in Azure AD MFA Enrollment Report.

Intune (Microsoft Unified Endpoint Management)

  • On-prem SSO functionality is available for Azure AD joined devices.

  • Filters can be utilized when assigning apps, policies, and profiles.

  • Users have access to per-device scores for Endpoint Analytics.

  • Users have the ability to collect diagnostics from a Windows Device.

  • Users can export Intune reports using Graph APIs.

  • Intune Community Portal for macOS devices is now a universal app.

Exchange Online

  • New anti-phishing options provide additional protection to users.

  • Users can block BCC messages to distribution groups to prevent email storms.

Meetings

  • Meeting transcripts are now included in the Search index.

  • Ability to lock meetings.

  • Slide translate in PowerPoint Live is now available.

  • Paging on video gallery.

  • Organizational-wide backgrounds.

  • End-user real-time telemetry for meetings.

  • Related content available on mobile application.

Calling

  • Ability to transfer calls between desktop and mobile devices now available.

  • Users can utilize speed dial via the mobile application.

Chat and Collaboration

  • Expanded emoji picker.

  • Improved immersive reader support for mobile application.

  • Inline message translation is available in channels for Android and iOS.

  • Headspace integration with Viva insights.

Power Platform and Custom Development

  • Improved management, security, and compliance, including new navigation changes, app risk evaluation, and safe links.

Government Community Cloud

  • Virtual breakout rooms.

  • Guest access.

  • Together Mode for Teams Rooms.

  • Auto recording.

  • Live reactions.

  • Spotlighting.

  • Live events with live captions.

  • Large meeting support.

  • Windows 10 Native notifications.

  • Missed activity emails.

  • Tags.

Microsoft Collaboration Platform

Yammer

  • ‘Post on behalf of’ feature now available.

  • Yammer emails new UI changes to users.

  • Ability to follow conversations by topic.

  • New enhancements to Team Communities.

  • Ability to pin important posts.

  • Improved post insights.

  • Additional announcement delivery and Yammer embed options.

SharePoint | Content Services

  • Ability to boost SharePoint news.

  • Collapse sections.

  • Users can edit a page or news content directly from Microsoft Teams.

SharePoint | Collaboration

  • New custom list templates.

  • Suggested attachments in Planner.

Forms

  • New formatting options.

  • Short URL (sharing)

  • Response view of Word Cloud is now available.

  • Ability to create Form poll suggestions in Teams.

  • Users can include ‘Quick Quiz’ in Teams.

  • Enhanced poll support for large meetings (up to 1,000 attendees).

Planner

  • Ability to create tasks from Teams Messages (To Do and Planner).

  • Suggested attachments from SharePoint are now available.

To Do

  • To Do backend has been moved to a more efficient service. Users must update both mobile and desktop applications to 2.49 or higher before October 2021.

Project

  • New features in Project for the Web, including the ability to assign tasks to anyone, rollup field, and scheduling mode.


Dynamics 365

Business Central

  • Bank reconciliation improvements.

  • Improvements to Dataverse enhance speed and throughput for multiple records integration.

  • Users have the ability to add columns via personalization to various pages.

  • Ability to add non-inventory items on req and planning worksheets.

  • Base unit of measure rounding precision when item is used on sales, purchasing, and production process.

Customer Engagement

  • Sales Hub was equipped with new and upcoming features, including a new mobile application, worklist manager, Integrated Teams “fly out” collaboration, and a preview of the new “Deal Manager” workspace.

  • Enhanced Teams collaboration in Dynamics 365.

Marketing

  • Enhanced customer insights integration.

  • New customer voice surveys.

  • Users can utilize leads as segments or targets.

Field Service

  • New self-service portal is now available.

  • Users have the ability to measure travel time using Geo Code/Maps.

Customer Service

  • Improved agent workspace.

  • The platform now includes OmniChannel Voice for Azure Communication Services.

Power BI Classes

To help business teams get the most out of Power BI, JourneyTEAM offers a series of classes taught by industry experts and Microsoft partners. Classes include:

These classes are offered at a fundamental, intermediate, and advanced DAX level.
