A retailer of outdoor activities was frustrated with user access and capabilities in Google Workspace, specifically the ability to control and manage user access as well as being unable to view reports on usage and storage. They wanted to migrate their collaboration services to Microsoft 365 to improve user management, communication, and more within their organization.

Microsoft 365 Benefits

By moving from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, this retailer improved access and visibility of user information. Azure Active Directory could now house all of their user information, allowing admins to easily control access, security rights, licensing, etc. Admins can also view powerful and customizable reports, a functionality that was not possible in Google Workspace. This enabled them to make data-driven decisions based on user reports.

The move to Microsoft 365 allowed JourneyTEAM cloud architects to work with the retailer’s IT director to move user information housed in Google Workspace to their Microsoft counterparts— Outlook and OneDrive. With users residing in Azure Active Directory, the IT team is now able to access various Microsoft tools with one login, saving valuable time.

The migration also improved collaboration between the retailer’s existing systems and new systems. For example, the company was already using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. When the company was using Google Workspace, collaboration and communication between the two systems was not seamless, which increased user frustration. After the migration, all systems now communicate cohesively together which enabled users to more easily access files and communicate with peers.
