The Microsoft Fabric Community Conference 2025 (FabCon) is set to be the biggest yet, bringing together data professionals, business leaders, and AI innovators. It’s an immersive experience in analytics, AI, and governance with over 200 sessions— a 40 percent increase from last year.

The Microsoft Fabric platform along with Power BI continues to evolve with real-time intelligence and Copilot-powered features. If you attend, you’ll be able to get onsite experience with these tools, and JourneyTeam will be there in full force to connect with you as well as share our expertise.

What’s New in Microsoft Fabric?

Fabric continues to push the boundaries of modern data management, and this year’s updates are no exception. Whether you’re looking to optimize real-time intelligence, unify data governance, or harness AI-driven automation, these Fabric innovations can help you reshape the way your organization manages its data estate and reporting.

Here’s what’s new:

Power BI with Copilot: Faster Insights, Fewer Barriers

Power BI remains the go-to frontend for Fabric analytics, and now Copilot is making it even easier. Instead of manually building reports or writing queries, just describe what you need in plain English—Copilot will generate dashboards, tweak visuals, and surface insights automatically.

  • Accelerate decision-making by removing technical barriers to analytics
  • Boost efficiency for both data professionals and business users
  • Spend less time wrangling data and more time using it

Fabric Databases, Real-Time Intelligence, and OneLake Catalog

Microsoft Fabric is making it easier than ever to manage, process, and find data with new features that cut down complexity. Here’s how these updates help businesses get more from their data:

  • Fabric Databases Keep Everything in One Place – No more juggling multiple data systems. Fabric Databases provide a fully managed solution that supports both structured and unstructured data, all while working seamlessly with OneLake to break down silos and eliminate messy data transfers.
  • Real-Time Intelligence Helps You Act Fast – Instead of waiting for reports, businesses can now analyze live data streams as events happen. Whether it’s tracking customer behavior, monitoring operations, or reacting to market changes, real-time insights mean you can make faster, smarter decisions.
  • OneLake Catalog Makes Finding Data Easy – Think of this as a search engine for your data. The new and improved OneLake Catalog organizes everything in one place, making it simple to find, manage, and secure your data across the organization.

These updates make data management smoother, insights faster, and analytics more accessible— the idea is that you’ll spend less time wrangling data and more time using it.

Fabric Copilot and AI Skills

Microsoft Fabric is making AI-powered analytics more accessible and intuitive with Copilot and AI Skills, allowing more employees—regardless of technical expertise—to interact with their data. These features help democratize data access, enabling users to generate insights without needing deep coding or SQL knowledge.

For example, Copilot lets both technical and non-technical users explore data using natural language queries across Power BI Semantic Models and Kusto Query Language (KQL) databases. Instead of manually writing complex queries, you can simply ask questions in plain English and receive structured insights, making data exploration faster and more user-friendly.

AI Skills, introduced in mid-2024 and currently in public preview, takes this concept a step further by allowing businesses to build custom conversational AI experiences within Fabric. Organizations can configure AI models to interpret natural language questions and generate structured queries, retrieving data from Fabric’s Lakehouse or Warehouse storage.
