Manage Your Sales Opportunities and Sales Quotes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Creating a Sales Opportunity in Dynamics 365 Business Central


To get started, log into the role-tailored Dynamics 365 Business Central homepage as a sales manager. When you scroll down on the dashboard, you’ll immediately see the wealth of valuable insights and data available to you. The Sales Pipeline and Opportunity sections of the dashboard allow you to see where customers are in your sales pipeline at a glance, making it easy to quickly identify sales opportunities.


Under the Opportunities heading, click the Open Opportunities button. This will display a list of your various sales opportunities, as well as the current stage of each opportunity.


Let’s say you want to enter a new sales opportunity. Click the New button at the top of your screen, and you’ll be taken to an Opportunity Card. Here, you can enter a description of the opportunity and assign it to either a customer or an appropriate contact via the Contact No. field.


Activating the Sales Stage


Next, it’s time to activate the sales stage. First, click the Activate First Stage button. This activates the first stage of the sales cycle. Click the “x” in the top right corner of the sales card to close it, and you’ll see the new opportunity displayed in your list of open opportunities.


Open the opportunity from the list and click the Update button at the top of your screen. Here, you can enter the estimated sales value as well as the likelihood of sales closure (expressed as a percentage). When you’re done, click the OK button.


Converting to a Sales Quote


Now, it’s time to assign the opportunity to a sales quote.


From the opportunity card, click the Assign Sales Quote button at the top of your screen. This opens the sales quote screen. Select the relevant item or items under the Description heading, enter in the quantity, and you’re ready to send the quote to your customer.


Sending Your Quote to a Customer


Sending a sales quote with Dynamics 365 Business Central couldn’t be easier. From the sales quote screen, simply click the Send by Email button in the top ribbon. You’ll see that all of the relevant information is converted into an easy-to-read sales quote, which you can email to your customer directly from within Business Central.
